The Fire Brigade

What an exciting, fun filled morning in Prep. We started our day with a whole school Chapel time where we celebrated our year 12 cohort who finish on Thursday prior to their HSC exams.

Eliannah was asked to go out the front and stand next to a year 12 student. She looked so little compared to the year 12 student who had also started in prep.

After crunch n sip, we had a surprise visit from the Narellan Fire Brigade. We re-learnt to call 000 in and emergency and Liam said we need to tell them "we have a fire". Charlie told us to 'meet at our letterbox' when we need to evacuate our house. Kaiah told us 'drop on the floor and when the fires off, go outside', in response to "What do you do if your clothes catch fire?" The fireman told us to cover our face with our hands and STOP! DROP! And ROLL! to put the fire out. The fireman also demonstrated how we get outside we 'GET DOWN LOW and GO, GO, GO!"

A Visit From the Fire Brigade

This morning we had one of our local neighbourhood heroes, the fire brigade come to visit us! The children waited excitedly, watching to see our special visitors appear in our classroom all dressed up in their uniform! We learnt all about what to do if there is a fire in the house, to STOP, DROP AND GO, GO, GO to the letterbox or particular family meeting place. It might be a great opportunity to talk to your children about your emergency fire plan at home if there ever were such an incident. We also learnt about what to do if our clothes or if a part of our body were to catch on fire, to STOP, DROP AND ROLL! We definitely learnt a lot about fire safety this morning and our local heroes did an incredibly wonderful job teaching the children.
We were very excited to also climb through the fire engine truck and spray the giant hose with the fire fighter!

Designing a Paintbrush Of Our Very Own

The children collected materials from around the classroom and then used pegs as their paintbrush handle.

Dabbing, brushing and swirling their paintbrushes, the children enjoyed experimenting with the different materials.

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Hasn't it just been windiest weather the last few weeks? We embraced the wild winds and created kites! At first, I quickly made up a kite using brenex paper, pipe cleaners, string and crepe paper. I then stood ourside and let the kite fly up and around, the children very quickly caught on to what I was doing and asked if they too could fly the kite. They were extremely excited when I told them they could make their very own kite!

Book Character Parade

Congratulations to Anesha and Oli who received a prize for wearing the best costumes in Prep!

Book activities based on the story Orange Pear Apple Bear by Emily Gravett were greatly enjoyed by everyone in our classroom.

Jacob and his Noni enjoyed making and eating fruit salad together.
