We have been reading a book this week about an Australian animal. Can your child remember what kind of animal it is?
Through sharing this book we discovered that ants can help make soil that helps plants to grow when they 'drag debris down into their tunnels'.
Chaise suggested that this was "composting".
We linked this theory to our investigating about the things in our jars and if they are biodegradable or not. Today we collected our food scraps from our crunch and sip and took them to the school compost heap.
Today we also harvested our vegetable gardens. We have lots of spinach and chards and some carrots.
The children helped to wash the vegetables and sort them out. Tomorrow we will have a stall during our Grandparents' Day morning and families are welcome to take some veggies home!
